  1. قصدَ الشامَ جرادٌ

    سنَّ للفلاتِ سِنَّا

    A swarm of locusts headed for al-Sham,

    sharpening a tooth for the open plains.

  2. فتصالحْنا عليه

    وحفرْنا ودفنَّا

    So we reached an agreement about it,

    and we dug and buried it.
