أغيَدُa graceful youth سكرانُdrunken نورُa light شرقٍof the East
أغيَدُ سكرانُ نورُ شرقٍ
وهُوَand he لأهلِfor the people of الشمالِthe North قبلَهْthe direction of prayer
وهُوَ لأهلِ الشمالِ قبلَهْ
A graceful, drunken youth, a light of the East;
and for the people of the North, he is the direction of prayer.
لماwhen شممتُI smelled المدامَthe wine منهُfrom him
لما شممتُ المدامَ منهُ
حددتهُI punished him أربعينَforty قُبْلَهْkisses
حددتهُ أربعينَ قُبْلَهْ
When I smelled wine on him,
I punished him with forty kisses.
