حَلَفْتَyou swore لَهُمْto them بِأَنَّكَthat you are ذُوpossessed of يَسَارٍwealth
حَلَفْتَ لَهُمْ بِأَنَّكَ ذُو يَسَارٍ
وَذُوand possessed of ثِقَةٍtrustworthiness وَبِرٍّand faithfulness بِالْيَمِينِto the oath
وَذُو ثِقَةٍ وَبِرٍّ بِالْيَمِينِ
You swore to them that you were wealthy,
and trustworthy and faithful to your oath,
لِيَسْتَنِدُواso that they may rely إِلَيْكَon you بِحِفْظِfor safeguarding مَالٍmoney
لِيَسْتَنِدُوا إِلَيْكَ بِحِفْظِ مَالٍ
فَتَأْكُلُthen you devour بِالْيَسَارِwith the left hand وَبِالْيَمِينِand with the right hand
فَتَأْكُلُ بِالْيَسَارِ وَبِالْيَمِينِ
so they would rely on you to safeguard money—
then you devour it with your left hand and your right.
