أصبَحْتَ سَهْماً من كِنانَةَ صائِباً

يَمْضي الى هَدَفِ الكَمالِ ونَحْرِهِ

يَمْضي الى هَدَفِ الكَمالِ ونَحْرِهِ

You have become an unerring arrow from Kinana,

You have become an arrow from Kinanah, hitting

Flying toward perfection’s target and its throat.

The target of perfection and its slaughter

وأبو المَكارمِ جدُّكَ الأرْضى الذي

وأبو المَكارمِ جدُّكَ الأرْضى الذي

اسْتَوْلى على سِرِّ الكَمالِ وجَهْرِهِ

اسْتَوْلى على سِرِّ الكَمالِ وجَهْرِهِ

And Abu al-Makarim, your most esteemed grandfather, who

The father of virtues, your ancestor who

Mastered perfection’s hidden and manifest aspects,

Took hold of the secret of perfection, overt and covert

ما كانَ يُدْعى بالمَكارِمِ كُنْيَةً

ما كانَ يُدْعى بالمَكارِمِ كُنْيَةً

إلا بكَوْنِكَ ثاوياً في ظهْرِهِ

إلا بكَوْنِكَ ثاوياً في ظهْرِهِ
