إذا ما تجلّى النّورُ في جُنْحِ ظُلْمَةٍ

إذا ما تجلّى النّورُ في جُنْحِ ظُلْمَةٍ

جَلاها كَما تجْلو الدُّجى غُرّةُ الفَجْرِ

جَلاها كَما تجْلو الدُّجى غُرّةُ الفَجْرِ

Whenever light shines forth within the veil of darkness,

When light shines through darkness’ wing

It dispels it, as dawn's bright brow dispels the gloom.

Like dawn dispels the gloom of night

فَلا تُعْجَبَنْ للحِبْرِ أن حالَ لوْنُهُ

فَلا تُعْجَبَنْ للحِبْرِ أن حالَ لوْنُهُ

فوجْهُكَ يجْلو ظُلْمَةَ اللّيْلِ والحِبْرِ

فوجْهُكَ يجْلو ظُلْمَةَ اللّيْلِ والحِبْرِ

So do not marvel that the ink's color has changed,

Marvel not that ink may change its hue

For your face dispels the darkness of night and ink.

For your face makes dark as ink shine bright
