قالواThey said لخِدْمتِهِto his service دَعاكَcalled you محمّدٌMuhammad
قالوا لخِدْمتِهِ دَعاكَ محمّدٌ
فكرِهْتَهاso you disliked it وزِهِدْتَand had no desire فيfor التّنْويهِacclaim
فكرِهْتَها وزِهِدْتَ في التّنْويهِ
They said: “Muhammad called you to his service,
They said you were called to serve Muhammad
so you disliked it and had no desire for acclaim.”
You disliked it and renounced being distinguished
فأجَبْتُهُمْso I answered them أناI والمُهيْمِنِby the Guardian كارِهٌaverse
فأجَبْتُهُمْ أنا والمُهيْمِنِ كارِهٌ
فيin خِدْمَةِservice الموْلَىthe master مُحِبٌّloving فيهِtoward him
في خِدْمَةِ الموْلَى مُحِبٌّ فيهِ
I answered them: “By the Guardian, I am averse
I answered them, I and the Overseer dislike
to serving the master, yet fond of him.”
