The courtyards of your home are resting places for guests,

and the traveler is guided by the firelight of your hospitality.

And your freely bestowed bounty has encompassed humankind,

all without exception; and your excellence has no peer.

Say to him who said, “The world has been folded away,

and valor has no deadly sword,

and generosity has no pouring raincloud,

and glory has no sharp summit”:

He has united gentleness, sound judgment, and generosity,

    with valor and well-founded counsel—Mubarak,

a blessing to faith, the world, and lofty virtues,

and to generosity, if the rain-spilling cloud grows stingy.

    فِي الْفَضْلِ وَالتَّقْوَى الْفُضَيْلُ وَمَالِك

    In battle's turmoil, he is Rabiʿa ibn Mukaddam;

in virtue and piety, he is al-Fudayl and Malik.

He inherited majesty from his father and grandfather,

so it is as though none of their dead had departed.

So his noble steeds are mounts for the hopeful,

and his tents are couches for those who seek him.

So if lofty honors come to be owned,

their necks are his by right: he is the master.

O knight of the Arabs, from whose house

comes a sanctuary for them, with pilgrimage and sacred rites.

O you whose visitors proclaim glad tidings with your name,

so they have paths and roads that lead to you.

You are the one in whom I have reserved all my delight,

whereas others have faults and things to shun.

May you ever remain a light whose radiance guides

whoever is shrouded in terror's pitch-black night.

And a fragrant greeting of mine is reserved for your glory,

like musk ground into precious perfumes by a perfumer.
