The caravans tell me—while longing in my breast

holds sway, now forbidding, now commanding—

    “When you ascend Mount al-Tawhid,

pitch your tent, with eyes at peace, in the abode of ʿAmir.

And visit the tomb of the Infallible, for visiting it

is the pilgrimage toward which every lean camel is driven.

At the abode of ʿAmir ibn Muhammad you will find

the smiling mouths of hopes, with glad tidings for their teeth.

And God be praised for the good fortune you will experience at your destination!

And God be praised for the bird of good omen you will encounter!

And through the ages, you two will be cited in proverbs:

the finest host, or the most enviable visitor.”
