And he is your ally, who braved death
It is the guardian of you, charging ahead
and unsheathed resolve, himself a cleaving sword;
Resolute of purpose, a sharp blade

And I have sent it to stand in for me before I come
I sent it to take my place before reaching you
to you, since a clear impediment has kept me from you.
As an evident excuse prevented me from you

If I have hastened some of my panegyrics,
If I rushed some of my praises
then they are gardens, and gardens have their first fruits.
They are blossoms, and blossoms precede fruits
