أَمَوْلاَيَ خُذْهَا بِنْتَ فِكْرِي تَغَيَّبَتْ

أَمَوْلاَيَ خُذْهَا بِنْتَ فِكْرِي تَغَيَّبَتْ

رَوَّيتُهُ عَنِّي وَضَلَّ ارْتِجَالُهُ

رَوَّيتُهُ عَنِّي وَضَلَّ ارْتِجَالُهُ

O my lord, take her, the daughter of my thought; absent

My hopes, take them, a daughter of my thoughts has vanished

From me was its deliberation, and its improvisation went astray.

I confided in her and her improvisation went astray

وَمَنْ عَجَبِ الدُّنْيَا بُنَيَّةُ خَاطِرِي

وَمَنْ عَجَبِ الدُّنْيَا بُنَيَّةُ خَاطِرِي

تَأَتَّى بِيَوْمٍ حَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ

تَأَتَّى بِيَوْمٍ حَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ

And among the world's wonders is the little daughter of my mind:

And whoever is amazed by the structure of my mind

Its gestation and weaning came about in a day.

Comes a day whose burden and unloading are hers

وَأَنْجِزْ جَمِيلَ الْوَعْدِ وَاعْلَمْ بِأَنَّهُ

وَأَنْجِزْ جَمِيلَ الْوَعْدِ وَاعْلَمْ بِأَنَّهُ

تُلاَزِمُ أَقْوَالَ الْكَرِيمِ فِعَالُهُ

تُلاَزِمُ أَقْوَالَ الْكَرِيمِ فِعَالُهُ

And fulfill the gracious promise, and know that

Fulfill your promise of kindness and know that

A noble man's deeds are inseparable from his words.

His actions accompany the words of the generous

وَإِنْ جُدْتَ لِي يَوْماً فَنَوِّهْ بِرُتْبَتِي

وَإِنْ جُدْتَ لِي يَوْماً فَنَوِّهْ بِرُتْبَتِي

فَمِثْلِيَ مَلْحُوظٌ لَدَيْكَ انْتِقَالُهُ

فَمِثْلِيَ مَلْحُوظٌ لَدَيْكَ انْتِقَالُهُ

And if you are generous to me one day, then give prominence to my rank;

And if you are generous to me one day, make mention of my rank

For you take note of the advancement of one like me.

For the likes of me are noteworthy to you when I pass away

تَعَهَّدْتَنِي بِالْجُودِ بَدْءً وَعَوْدَةً

تَعَهَّدْتَنِي بِالْجُودِ بَدْءً وَعَوْدَةً

وَأَلْبَسْتَنِي عِزًّا يُرُوقُ جَمَالُهُ

وَأَلْبَسْتَنِي عِزًّا يُرُوقُ جَمَالُهُ

You have tended me with generosity, at first and again,

You have undertaken to be generous with me at the start and return

And clothed me in honor whose beauty delights.

And you have adorned me with honor befitting its beauty

وَأَيَّدْتَنِي وَالدَّهْرُ قِرْنٌ مُنَاجِزٌ

وَأَيَّدْتَنِي وَالدَّهْرُ قِرْنٌ مُنَاجِزٌ

فَأَيَّدَكَ الرَّحْمَانُ جَلَّ جَلاَلُهُ

فَأَيَّدَكَ الرَّحْمَانُ جَلَّ جَلاَلُهُ

And upheld me while Time was an adversary pressing the fight;

And you have supported me while time is a challenging partner

So may the Most Merciful uphold you—exalted is His majesty.

So the Merciful has supported you, transcendent is His majesty
