    O grandson of God's saint of the highest rank,

    and of him who attained eminence in the hereafter and in this world,

    you restored my days to ease and welcome,

    and revived my solace after it had died, O Yahya.

    فأنْشأتَ لي ظِلاًّ وأعْذَبْتَ لي سُقْيا

    And I was but thirsty for you, exposed to the sun;

    so you created shade for me and made my drink sweet.

    And you granted me the bounty that befits you,

    leaving neither condition nor exception in your grant.

    Whenever I turn my thoughts to your bounty, before which

    the tongue is excused when it falls short,

    وأوْسَعَ رَعْيُ اللهِ أرْجاءَها رَعْيا

    I say: may pouring rain water Badis,

    and may God's care lavish protection on her reaches;

    and may the hand of the clouds weave her a robe—

    you see the blossoms' gold as jewels around her neck.

    For the spirit of Abu Yaqub, captive in his tomb,

    yearns for God's people, for you to exert yourself in seeking:

    a succor to whoever seeks redress, and a light to whoever finds guidance,

    and a refuge for anyone brought low by a dire calamity.

    I have made you, O Yahya, a means of approach to him,

    on which I rely in death and in life.
