My two friends, whenever you come to Tariq's abode—

May God water that dwelling with the downpour of His clouds—

So do not neglect to convey, on your brother's behalf,

A gift of fragrance from his gracious greeting,

To a dwelling of kingship and faith, where have encamped

The riding camels of glory and generosity beneath its tents.

Tents of might, like stars, surround

A radiant one, like the moon at its fullness.

And say: 'Commander of the Muslims, a greeting

Has been bestowed on you by a servant bound to his ardent love.

He departed your abode, yielding to necessity,

And left behind a heart content to remain there.'
