لَقولا لهُ قوْلاً ولنْ تعْدوَ الحَقّا

لَقولا لهُ قوْلاً ولنْ تعْدوَ الحَقّا

My two friends, if a meeting with Khalid comes about,

My darling, if a gathering brings me with Khaled

Do say these words to him, and you will not stray from the truth:

I will say to him words, and I will not exceed the truth

سرَقْتَ العِمادَ الأصْبَهانيَّ بَرْقَهُ

سرَقْتَ العِمادَ الأصْبَهانيَّ بَرْقَهُ

وماذا تَرى في شاعِرٍ سرَقَ البَرْقَا

وماذا تَرى في شاعِرٍ سرَقَ البَرْقَا

You robbed al-Imad al-Isbahani of his lightning;

You have stolen the pillar Al-Isbahani, his lightning
