My companion spent the night with a frail man's cares,
Over a gray hair the eye disdained.
وَقُلْتُand I said مَاwhat هَذِهِthese الْبَوَادِيthe first signs
فَقَالَso he said لِيto me شِخْتَyou have grown old يَافُلاَنْO so-and-so
And I said, "What are these first signs?"
So he said to me, "You've grown old, O so-and-so!"
