ما غَضّ منّي أنْ أخْلَفْتَ موْعودي

ما غَضّ منّي أنْ أخْلَفْتَ موْعودي

ورَوْضُ خدِّكَ أضْحى ذاوِيَ العودِ

ورَوْضُ خدِّكَ أضْحى ذاوِيَ العودِ

It did not diminish me that you broke your promise to me,

It does not anger me that you broke your promise,

And the garden of your cheek now has a withered bough.

Though the soft skin of your cheek has lost its freshness.

وقال قوْسُ عِذارٍ فوقَ صَفْحَتِهِ

وقال قوْسُ عِذارٍ فوقَ صَفْحَتِهِ

سَفينَةُ الحُسْنِ قد حطّتْ على الجودي

سَفينَةُ الحُسْنِ قد حطّتْ على الجودي

And a bow of cheek-down above its surface said:

And the bow of separation said above its page,

“The ship of beauty has come to rest upon al-Judi.”

"The ship of beauty has landed at the shore of generosity."
