بِغَيْضَةِin the thicket وحْشِwild beasts اللّيْلِof the night خوفٌfear ووَحْشَةٌand loneliness
بِغَيْضَةِ وحْشِ اللّيْلِ خوفٌ ووَحْشَةٌ
كأنّas though فُؤاديmy heart وحْشَةًloneliness قدhad أعارَهاlent it
كأنّ فُؤادي وحْشَةً قد أعارَها
In the thicket of night's wild beasts are fear and loneliness,
With the rage of the beast of night, fear and loneliness
As though my heart had lent it loneliness.
As if my heart lent its loneliness
ولكنّand yet هَذيthis أقْفَرَتْhas become deserted منْof أنيسِهاits companion
ولكنّ هَذي أقْفَرَتْ منْ أنيسِها
وغَيْضَةُand the thicket قلْبيof my heart يسْكُنُinhabits الهَمُّsorrow دارَهاits abode
وغَيْضَةُ قلْبي يسْكُنُ الهَمُّ دارَها
But this thicket stands deserted, without its companion,
But this one lost its companion
While sorrow dwells in the abode of my heart's thicket.
And the grudge of my heart, grief makes its home
