إِذَاif ذَهَبَتْis lost يَمِينُكَyour right hand لاَdo not تُضَيِّعْwaste
زَمَانَكَyour time فِيin الْبُكَاءِweeping عَلَىover الْمُصِيبَهْthe calamity
If your right hand is lost, do not waste
your time weeping over the calamity.
وَيُسْرَاكَand your left hand اغْتَنِمْmake the most of فَالْقَوْسُfor the bow تَرْمِىshoots
وَلاَand not تَدْرِيyou know أَرشْقَتُهَاwhether its volley قَرِيبَهْnear
And make the most of your left hand, for the bow shoots,
and you do not know whether its volley is near.
وَمَاand not بِغَرِيبَةٍstrange نُوَبُmisfortunes اللَّيَالِيthe nights
وَلَكِنَّand yet النَّجَاةَdeliverance هِيَit الْغَرِيبَهْthe strange thing
And the misfortunes of the nights are nothing strange,
but deliverance is the strange thing.
