    I will not leave the door of your esteemed father,

    whether time heals for its sake or wounds.

    My tents have been pitched in his sanctuary; so my children

    graze on lush herbage there, and my beasts roam freely.

    Until his honor is respected in my quest,

    with care that heals hearts and sets them at ease.

    Is it right for me to leave his dwelling disappointed,

    while the world's pulpits ring with mention of you?

    I am in his sanctuary, and you know better what

    would please him on your part, for your judgment carries greater weight.

    في مِثلِها زَنْدُ الحَفيظةِ يُقْدَحُ

    In such a case, the sword of protective zeal is unsheathed;

    in such a case, the fire-stick of indignation is struck.

    وعسى الذي سدّ المَذاهِبَ يَفْتَحُ

    And may he who first showed kindness repeat it;

    and may he who blocked the paths open them.
