I turned to the lord Abū ʿUmar al-Riḍā—

may the will flow in accord with what pleases him—

as the flood of my cares had overflowed, so he might grant me refuge,

and his bounties might bear me aboard a ship.

And I am indeed content with whatever he chooses for me,

even if his forefathers worshipped Santa Maria.

And my expectations of the imam and his bounty

are certain, by God, and free of doubt.

So may he attain what he desires of his Lord’s bounty,

and may the Abyss be the mother of whoever wishes him evil.
