أُحَدِّثُكُمْ وهْوَ عنْ طُرْفَةِ

أُحَدِّثُكُمْ وهْوَ عنْ طُرْفَةِ

حَديثاً يَجُرُّ الى الحِرْفَةِ

حَديثاً يَجُرُّ الى الحِرْفَةِ

I tell you—and it concerns a curious incident—

I speak to you while being inexplicit

a tale that leads to poverty.

With talk leading to craftiness

تمنّيْتُ منْ فَضْلِكُم غَرْفَةً

تمنّيْتُ منْ فَضْلِكُم غَرْفَةً

فعادَ فُضولي علَى غُرْفَتي

فعادَ فُضولي علَى غُرْفَتي

I wished for a handful of your bounty,

I wished from your generosity a scoop

but my meddling rebounded upon my room.

So my excess returned to my scoop
