قُلْتُI said اعْشَقُواlove (you plural) عَيْنَthe spring of الْبُذُولِal-Badhul الَّتِيwhich
قُلْتُ اعْشَقُوا عَيْنَ الْبُذُولِ الَّتِي
فِيfor مِثْلِهَاits like يُرْفَضُis rejected قَوْلُthe words of الْعَذُولِthe reproacher
فِي مِثْلِهَا يُرْفَضُ قَوْلُ الْعَذُولِ
I said: Love the spring of al-Badhul,
I said love the eye of the stingy one in whom
for a spring like it, the reproacher's words are rejected.
The word of the chaste one would be rejected
فَقَلَّمَاfor seldom أَبْصَرْتُمُyou have seen (plural) مَنْظَراًa sight
فَقَلَّمَا أَبْصَرْتُمُ مَنْظَراً
أَمْلَحَlovelier مِنْthan مَنْظَرِthe sight of عَيْنِthe spring of الْبَذُولِal-Badhul
أَمْلَحَ مِنْ مَنْظَرِ عَيْنِ الْبَذُولِ
For seldom have you seen a sight
Yet rarely did you see a look
lovelier than the sight of al-Badhul's spring.
More beautiful than the look of the stingy eye
