وَاللهِ مَا أَبْقَوْا لِعَذْلٍ غَايَةً

وَاللهِ مَا أَبْقَوْا لِعَذْلٍ غَايَةً

فاللهُ يُحْسِبُهُمْ رِضىً وَثَوَابَا

فاللهُ يُحْسِبُهُمْ رِضىً وَثَوَابَا

By God, they left no limit to reproach.

By God, they left no excuse unpursued

So may God give them their fill of favor and reward.

But God will hold them to account with favor and reward

اَوْدَى بِصَبْرِي صُدْغُهُ لَمَّا بَدَا

اَوْدَى بِصَبْرِي صُدْغُهُ لَمَّا بَدَا

وَجَنَى عَلَيَّ فَسَلْسَلُوهُ عِقَابَا

وَجَنَى عَلَيَّ فَسَلْسَلُوهُ عِقَابَا

His temple-lock did away with my patience when it appeared,

My patience pained me when it first appeared

And wronged me—so chain it as punishment.

And they heaped chains upon me as punishment
