ولمّا حثَثْتَ السّيْرَ واللهُ حاكِمٌ

ولمّا حثَثْتَ السّيْرَ واللهُ حاكِمٌ

لمُلْكِكَ في الدُنْيا بعِزٍّ وفي الأخْرى

لمُلْكِكَ في الدُنْيا بعِزٍّ وفي الأخْرى

And when you hastened your journey—God decreeing

glory for your kingdom in this world and the next—

حَكى فَرَسَ الشّطْرَنْجِ طِرْفُكَ لا يُرى

حَكى فَرَسَ الشّطْرَنْجِ طِرْفُكَ لا يُرى

يُنَقَّلُ منْ بَيْضاءَ إلا الى حَمْرا

يُنَقَّلُ منْ بَيْضاءَ إلا الى حَمْرا

your steed resembled the knight in chess, never seen

being moved from a white square except to a red one.
