ودونَكَ فاسْتَغْرِبْ على الماءِ موْقِفي

ودونَكَ فاسْتَغْرِبْ على الماءِ موْقِفي

كَما وقَفَ ابْنُ الماءِ وسْطَ غَديرِ

كَما وقَفَ ابْنُ الماءِ وسْطَ غَديرِ

And behold: marvel at my stance upon the water,

Without you, be amazed at my stance on the water

As the waterbird stood in the midst of a pool.

As the son of water stood midst the pool

على نِصْبَةِ الأفْراحِ أحْكَمَ بِنْيَتي

على نِصْبَةِ الأفْراحِ أحْكَمَ بِنْيَتي

حَكيمٌ بِما يأتيهِ جِدُّ بَصيرِ

حَكيمٌ بِما يأتيهِ جِدُّ بَصيرِ

For a festive display, my structure was perfected

On the pedestal of joys, my structure grew firm

By a wise man, keenly discerning in what he undertakes.

A sage, with what comes to him, serious and insightful

فإنْ كنْتَ عنْ كاسٍ وراحٍ وشادِنٍ

فإنْ كنْتَ عنْ كاسٍ وراحٍ وشادِنٍ

سَؤولاً فلا يُنْبيكَ مثْلُ خَبيرِ

سَؤولاً فلا يُنْبيكَ مثْلُ خَبيرِ

So if, about a cup, wine, and a fawn, you are

If you asked about a cup, rest, and lively companion

Full of questions, none can inform you like one who knows.

You needn't heed one like an expert advisor
