عِمَامَةُ الْبُنِّيِّ مَشْهُورَةٌ

عِمَامَةُ الْبُنِّيِّ مَشْهُورَةٌ

بالْحُسْنِ وَالإِقْبَالِ مَا أَقْلَلَهْ

بالْحُسْنِ وَالإِقْبَالِ مَا أَقْلَلَهْ

Al-Bunnī’s turban is renowned

The turban of the young man is well-known

For beauty and favor—how scant it is!

For its beauty and acceptance, how it excelled

عِمَامَةٌ قَدْ ظَهَرَتْ فِي الأَذَى

عِمَامَةٌ قَدْ ظَهَرَتْ فِي الأَذَى

كَأَنَّهَا الْفُقَّاعُ فِي الْمَزْبَلَهْ

كَأَنَّهَا الْفُقَّاعُ فِي الْمَزْبَلَهْ

A turban has appeared amid filth,

A turban that appeared with harm

As though it were a mushroom in a dungheap.

As if it were bubbles in the trash
