With my life I ransom the best who ever trod the earth,

I sacrifice myself for the best of those who tread the soil

The Prophet of guidance, the sea of generosity, the master of creation.

The prophet of guidance, the sea of splendor, the master of all

ختام النبيين الكرام جميعهم

ختام النبيين الكرام جميعهم

حبيب إله العالمين بلا مرا

حبيب إله العالمين بلا مرا

The seal of all the noble prophets,

The seal of the noble prophets, all of them

Beloved of the God of all worlds, beyond dispute.

The beloved of the Lord of the worlds, without equal

أمين ومأمون على وحي ربه

أمين ومأمون على وحي ربه

وتنزيله القرآن عصمة من قرا

وتنزيله القرآن عصمة من قرا

Trustworthy and trusted with his Lord's revelation,

Trustworthy and steadfast upon the revelation of his Lord

And His revelation, the Qur’an, a safeguard for whoever recites it.

And its descending, the Quran, protected from reciting incorrectly

أتاه أمين اللَه بالوحي جهرة

أتاه أمين اللَه بالوحي جهرة

وكان لرب العرش يعبد في حرا

وكان لرب العرش يعبد في حرا

God's trusted one came to him with revelation openly,

The trusted one of God came to him with revelation openly

And he worshipped the Lord of the Throne in Hira.

And he used to worship the Lord of the throne in the valleys

وأسرى به الرب العظيم إلى العلا

وأسرى به الرب العظيم إلى العلا

فسبحان من أسرى وبورك من سرى

فسبحان من أسرى وبورك من سرى

And the mighty Lord carried him by night to the heights.

And the Almighty Lord took him on the night journey to the highest heaven

So glory to Him who carried him by night, and blessed be he who journeyed.

So glory to the One who took him on the night journey and blessings upon the one who traveled

إمام له التقديم في كل حضرة

إمام له التقديم في كل حضرة

معظمة مرفوعة القدر والذرا

معظمة مرفوعة القدر والذرا

A leader who holds precedence in every assembly,

A leader for him is the precedence in every assembly

Honored, elevated in rank and eminence.

Revered, lofty in worth and progeny

خليل صنفي اللَه مختار قربه

خليل صنفي اللَه مختار قربه

ورؤيته هذا الحديث كما جرى

ورؤيته هذا الحديث كما جرى

An intimate friend, God's chosen one, chosen for nearness to Him,

The intimate whom God chose, drew him near

And for beholding Him—such is the tradition as it has been related.

And seeing him, this narration occurred as it was conveyed

حبيبي رسول اللَه إني عبيدكم

حبيبي رسول اللَه إني عبيدكم

فقير ضعيف لا أطيق تصبرا

فقير ضعيف لا أطيق تصبرا

My beloved, Messenger of God, I am your humble servant,

My beloved, Messenger of God, I am your servant

Poor and weak, I cannot endure patiently.

Poor, weak, unable to show patience

حبيبي رسول اللَه إني سليلكم

حبيبي رسول اللَه إني سليلكم

ولي رحم يدري بها كل من درى

ولي رحم يدري بها كل من درى

My beloved, Messenger of God, I am your descendant,

My beloved, Messenger of God, I am your descendant

And I have a bond of kinship known to everyone who knows.

And I have a womb that everyone who knows, knows

حبيبي رسول اللَه إني قصدتكم

حبيبي رسول اللَه إني قصدتكم

لكشف مهم في مرابعنا طرا

My beloved, Messenger of God, I have sought you

My beloved, Messenger of God, I came seeking you

To dispel a grave trouble in all our dwelling places.

To uncover an important matter in our dwellings

حبيبي رسول اللَه قادة فرقة

حبيبي رسول اللَه قادة فرقة

مضللة ليست لنور الهدى ترى

مضللة ليست لنور الهدى ترى

My beloved, Messenger of God—the leaders of a faction,

My beloved, Messenger of God, the leaders of a

Misguided, unable to see the light of guidance.

Misguided group, do not see the light of guidance

حبيبي رسول كن شافعاً لنا

حبيبي رسول كن شافعاً لنا

إلى ربك الرحمن أحسن من يرى

إلى ربك الرحمن أحسن من يرى

My beloved Messenger, be an intercessor for us

My beloved Messenger, be an intercessor for us

With your Lord, the All-Merciful, the best of those who see.

To your Lord the Merciful, the best of seers

وسله لنا وادعه لنا أن يغيثنا

وسله لنا وادعه لنا أن يغيثنا

ويرحمنا إن المعاش تكدرا

ويرحمنا إن المعاش تكدرا

And ask Him for us, and call upon Him for us, to come to our aid

And ask Him for us and supplicate to Him for us that He gives us relief

And show us mercy, for our livelihood has become troubled

And has mercy on us, indeed livelihood has become bitter

بجدب وقحط قد تمادى وفتنة

بجدب وقحط قد تمادى وفتنة

وجور ولاة ألصق الكل بالعرا

وجور ولاة ألصق الكل بالعرا

By drought and famine that has persisted, and by strife,

With drought and famine that has persisted and tribulation

And rulers' tyranny, which has pressed everyone onto bare ground.

And the injustice of governors, each one stuck to the ground

فسله تعالى يبدل الجدب والغلا

فسله تعالى يبدل الجدب والغلا

بخصب ورخص في المدائن والقرى

بخصب ورخص في المدائن والقرى

So ask Him, exalted be He, to replace drought and high prices

So ask Him, the Exalted, to replace the drought and high prices

With abundance and low prices in the cities and villages,

With fertility and cheapness in the cities and villages

وبصلح ولاة الأمر عند فسادهم

وبصلح ولاة الأمر عند فسادهم

ويقظهم للعدل من سنة القرى

ويقظهم للعدل من سنة القرى

And to reform those in authority when they grow corrupt,

And with the reform of the unjust leaders when they are corrupt

And awaken them to justice from the drowsiness of sleep.

And awaken them to justice from the tradition of the villages

فيا رب يا ربحمن شفع نبينا

فيا رب يا ربحمن شفع نبينا

رسولك فينا واكف من جار واجترى

رسولك فينا واكف من جار واجترى

So, O Lord, O All-Merciful, accept our Prophet as intercessor—

So O Lord, O Merciful Lord, may our Prophet intercede for us

Your Messenger—on our behalf, and ward off whoever oppresses and acts brazenly.

Your Messenger regarding us, and prevent whoever transgresses

ولا تبقنا يا ربنا عرضة لهم

ولا تبقنا يا ربنا عرضة لهم

وهدف مرامي كل من خان وامترى

وهدف مرامي كل من خان وامترى

And do not leave us, O our Lord, exposed to them,

And do not leave us, our Lord, exposed to them

Nor a target for the shafts of anyone who betrays and doubts.

As a target for every betrayer and transgressor

وخذ بنواصينا إلى الحق والهدى

وخذ بنواصينا إلى الحق والهدى

واختم لنا بالخير إن أزمع السرى

واختم لنا بالخير إن أزمع السرى

And take us by our forelocks toward truth and guidance.

And take us by our forelocks to truth and guidance

And grant us a good end if the night journey is resolved upon.

And seal for us with good if the journey is intended

فإنك مولانا وإنك ربنا

فإنك مولانا وإنك ربنا

وسيدنا والقصد في كل ما عرى

وسيدنا والقصد في كل ما عرى

For You are our Master, and You are our Lord,

For You are our Master, and You are our Lord

And our sovereign, our recourse in all that befalls.

And our Chief, and the goal in all that was conveyed

وصلي على روح الحبيب محمد

وصلي على روح الحبيب محمد

وسلم وبارك كلما بارق سرى

وسلم وبارك كلما بارق سرى

And send blessings upon the spirit of the beloved Muhammad,

And send your blessings upon the soul of the Beloved Muhammad

And grant peace and blessings whenever a lightning flash travels by night,

And greetings and blessings whenever the journey traveled

مع الآل والأصحاب والتابعين ما

مع الآل والأصحاب والتابعين ما

جرى السيل في الوادي وما المزن أمطرا

جرى السيل في الوادي وما المزن أمطرا

Together with his family, companions, and followers, as long as

With the Family, the Companions and the Successors for what

The torrent flows in the valley, and as long as the rain clouds pour rain.

The torrent flowed in the valley and for how much the clouds poured

وَتمَّت وَفاح الحمد للَّهِ خَتمها

وَتمَّت وَفاح الحمد للَّهِ خَتمها

عَبيرا ومسكا للوجود معطرا

عَبيرا ومسكا للوجود معطرا

And it is complete; its close—'Praise be to God'—wafts forth

Complete - thus the poem ends by his fragrance is dispersed, ambergris and musk perfuming existence

As perfume and musk, scenting all existence.
