And to our loved ones, hello and greetings

هم مرادي وهم منايَ وقصدي

هم مرادي وهم منايَ وقصدي

لست عنهم يا صاحبي أتولى

لست عنهم يا صاحبي أتولى

They are my desire, my wishes, and my purpose.

They are my desire, my comfort and my aim

I do not turn away from them, my friend.

كيف أسلموا ودادهم كيف أنسى

كيف أسلموا ودادهم كيف أنسى

عهدهم والفؤاد بالحب يملي

عهدهم والفؤاد بالحب يملي

How could they surrender their affection? How could I forget

How could I forget their affection, how could I forget

their covenant, while the heart has dictated through love

Their covenant, with love my heart is filled

من قديم وعالم الروح روحي

من قديم وعالم الروح روحي

بشهود جمالهم نتملى

بشهود جمالهم نتملى

since long ago? And in the realm of spirit, my soul and I

Since long ago, the soul of my soul

delight in beholding their beauty.

Is delighted by the beauty of their presence

قدم الصدق مقعد الصدق حسبي

قدم الصدق مقعد الصدق حسبي

وهو حسب الذي على القصد يتلى

وهو حسب الذي على القصد يتلى

A footing of truth, a seat of truth—these suffice me.

Truthfulness is my seat, truthfulness suffices me

And that accords with what is recited concerning the aim.

It is enough, recited for the right purpose

خذ يميناً عنها لعلك تهدي

خذ يميناً عنها لعلك تهدي

إن حزب الشمال بالنار يصلى

إن حزب الشمال بالنار يصلى

Take the rightward way away from it; perhaps you will be guided.

Go to the right, so you may be guided

Indeed, the company of the left burns in the Fire.

The left side prays with fire

والصراط الصراط وهو عسير

والصراط الصراط وهو عسير

واحذر السبل فالمحجة أولى

واحذر السبل فالمحجة أولى

And the path—the path! It is arduous.

The path, the difficult path

And beware the byways; the clear road is better.

And beware the ways, caution is best

والزمان المبارك الحال أمسى

والزمان المبارك الحال أمسى

أسود الوجه لا ترى فيه خلا

أسود الوجه لا ترى فيه خلا

And the age, once blessed in its condition, has become

And the blessed time is now past

black of face; in it you see no close friend.

Blackened, no light can be seen

ذهبوا ذهبوا فجاءت خلوف

ذهبوا ذهبوا فجاءت خلوف

بعدهم خلفوا قدم من تولى

بعدهم خلفوا قدم من تولى

They are gone, they are gone; successors have come

They went, they went, and loneliness came

after them, following the footsteps of those who turned away.

After them, they left early the ones who turned away

ودع الناس ودع النفس والزم

ودع الناس ودع النفس والزم

باب مولاك لا تحل عنه أصلا

باب مولاك لا تحل عنه أصلا

Leave people, leave the self, and hold fast to

Leave the people, leave your soul, and adhere

your Lord’s door; never depart from it.

To the door of your Master, do not deviate

واتقى ربك العظيم تعالى

واتقى ربك العظيم تعالى

عن شريك وعن شبيه ومثلا

عن شريك وعن شبيه ومثلا

And fear your mighty Lord, exalted

And be conscious of your mighty Exalted Lord

above any partner, any likeness, and any equal.

Apart from partner, likeness or equal

خالق الكل رازق الكل حقا

خالق الكل رازق الكل حقا

ومليك الوجود علوا وسفلا

ومليك الوجود علوا وسفلا

Creator of all, Provider for all, truly,

Creator of all, Sustainer of all, truly

and Sovereign of existence, above and below.

And Possessor of existence, high and low

فاز عبد بطاعات الله يخلوا

فاز عبد بطاعات الله يخلوا

وع النكر والقبيح تخلى

وع النكر والقبيح تخلى

A servant triumphs who withdraws into solitude in obedience to God,

The servant succeeds through obeying Allah sincerely

and has renounced wrongdoing and ugliness,

And avoiding the unknown and the ugly

وبما يرتضيه من كل قول

وبما يرتضيه من كل قول

وفعال وصالح قد تحلى

وفعال وصالح قد تحلى

and with what He approves of in every word

And with all saying, action and righteousness

and deed, and with righteousness, has indeed adorned himself.

With which He is pleased, he is adorned

وصلاة الإله في كل حين

وصلاة الإله في كل حين

واوان على الملائك تملي

واوان على الملائك تملي

And may God’s blessing, at every moment

And prayers to God at all times

and season, be dictated to the angels

And seasons upon the angels called

لنبي الهدى شفيع البرايا

لنبي الهدى شفيع البرايا

خاتم الأنبياء والرسل كلا

خاتم الأنبياء والرسل كلا

for the Prophet of guidance, intercessor for creation,

For the Prophet of guidance, intercessor of people

the Seal of all the prophets and messengers.

Seal of Prophets and Messengers, evermore
