بروق الغور تلمع في الدياجي

فذكرني لييلات التناجي

فذكرني لييلات التناجي

The lightning flashes of al-Ghawr gleam in the dark nights,

The lightning of the deserts gleams in the darkness

so it reminded me of those few nights of whispered confidences,

Reminding me of nights of intimate conversation

وأياماً خلت في طيب عيش

وأياماً خلت في طيب عيش

بوادي الخير ما بين الفجاج

بوادي الخير ما بين الفجاج

and days gone by in the sweetness of living,

And days gone by in pleasant living

in the Valley of Goodness, among the mountain passes;

In the valleys of goodness between the rugged terrain

وأحباباً وأصحاباً كراماً

وأحباباً وأصحاباً كراماً

من البيت المشرف بالسراج

من البيت المشرف بالسراج

and loved ones and noble companions

And honorable, noble friends

from the house honored by the Lamp;

From a house illuminated by lamps

وغيد طاهرات زاهرات

وغيد طاهرات زاهرات

بأسمار تصان عن اللجاج

بأسمار تصان عن اللجاج

and graceful maidens, pure and radiant,

And pure, blooming maidens

with nighttime conversations kept free of wrangling.

With dark eyes protected from ogling

فهل ذاك الزمان يعود يوماً

فهل ذاك الزمان يعود يوماً

ويأذن كل كرب بانفراج

ويأذن كل كرب بانفراج

So will that time return one day,

Will that time ever return one day

and every distress give way to relief,

And every hardship give permission to unravel?

فيصبح كل حب في سكون

فيصبح كل حب في سكون

ويمسي كل مؤذ في انزعاج

ويمسي كل مؤذ في انزعاج

so that every beloved greets the morning in peace,

So that every love is at peace

and every tormentor meets the evening in disquiet,

And every pain settles in the evening

بلطف اللَه كشاف البلايا

بلطف اللَه كشاف البلايا

تعالى لا يخيب فيه راجي

تعالى لا يخيب فيه راجي

through the kindness of God, the Dispeller of afflictions?

With the grace of Allah, dispeller of afflictions

Exalted is He; no one who hopes in Him is disappointed.

The Most High who does not disappoint any hopeful one

نؤمله ونرجوه دواماً

نؤمله ونرجوه دواماً

يقوم ما هناك من اعوجاج

يقوم ما هناك من اعوجاج

We look to Him and hope in Him unceasingly,

We hope for it and wish for it always

that He may set right whatever crookedness is there,

To rectify what crookedness lies therein

ويشملنا بعافية وعفو

ويشملنا بعافية وعفو

فنضحي في سرور وابتهاج

فنضحي في سرور وابتهاج

and enfold us in well-being and pardon,

And envelop us in well-being and pardon

so we may spend the morning in joy and delight,

So we may rejoice in joy and elation

ببركة أحمد خير البرايا

ببركة أحمد خير البرايا

شفيع الكل يوم الإرتجاج

شفيع الكل يوم الإرتجاج

through the blessing of Ahmad, the best of creation,

With the blessing of Ahmed, best of creations

intercessor for all on the Day of Trembling.

Intercessor of all on the Day of Assembly

عليه اللَه صلى كل حين

عليه اللَه صلى كل حين

وسلم ملجا للَه لاجي

وسلم ملجا للَه لاجي

May God send blessings upon him at every moment,

Upon him Allah send blessings every instant

and grant him peace—a refuge for one who seeks refuge in God.

And peace as a refuge for Allah's refugees
