أَيُّها العبد لا تيأس

أَيُّها العبد لا تيأس

من اللَه مولاك

من اللَه مولاك

O servant, do not despair

O servant, do not despair

of God, your Lord.

وارج فضله ولطفه

وارج فضله ولطفه

من مماتك ومحياك

من مماتك ومحياك

Hope for His grace and gentleness

And hope for His bounty and His kindness

in your death and in your life.

واذكر اسمه تعالى

واذكر اسمه تعالى

في صباحك وممساك

في صباحك وممساك

Remember His Name—exalted is He—

And remember His name—exalted is He—

morning and evening.

لا تعول علي غيره

لا تعول علي غيره

لنفعك وضراك

لنفعك وضراك

Rely on none but Him

Do not rely on anyone other than Him

for your weal or woe.

for your benefit and your harm.

فإنه الفرد ذي بيده

فإنه الفرد ذي بيده

تدابير الأفلاك

تدابير الأفلاك

For He is the One, in whose hand

For indeed He is the Unique One, in whose hand lies

lies the governance of the celestial spheres.

ما لأحد شيء معه حا

شاه في ذا ولا ذاك

شاه في ذا ولا ذاك

No one has anything beside Him—far

No one has any share alongside Him—far be it

be He above it, in this or in that.

from Him—in this or that.

واشكر آلاه وأنعامه

واشكر آلاه وأنعامه

يزيدك براً ويرضاك

يزيدك براً ويرضاك

Give thanks for His blessings and bounty;

And give thanks for His blessings and His beneficence.

He will increase you in goodness and be pleased with you.

He will increase His kindness to you and be pleased with you.

واصبر إن ابتلاك إنه

واصبر إن ابتلاك إنه

بك أرحم من أباك

بك أرحم من أباك

Be patient if He tests you, for He

And be patient if He tests you; indeed, He

is more merciful to you than your father.

وادعه اسأله يكشف عن

ك ضرك وبلواك

ك ضرك وبلواك

Call upon Him; ask Him to lift away from

And call upon Him; ask Him to lift from

you your affliction and ordeal.

واحفظ أمره ولا تعصه

فالمعصية داك

Keep His command and do not disobey Him,

And observe His command, and do not disobey Him,

for disobedience is your disease.

How can you disobey the One who, from

a drop—exalted is He—fashioned you,

ونماك ورباك

then nourished you through His beneficence,

then nourished you with His kindness,

caused you to grow, and reared you?

أيها الغافل استيقظ

أيها الغافل استيقظ

ومهد لمسواك

ومهد لمسواك

O heedless one, awaken

O heedless one, awaken,

and prepare your resting place.

and make ready for your resting place.

واذكر الموت قبل ال

موت ينزل بمغناك

موت ينزل بمغناك

Remember death before death

And remember death before

descends upon your dwelling.

واجمع الزاد للسفر ال

واجمع الزاد للسفر ال

مدى قبل ما يفجاك

مدى قبل ما يفجاك

Gather provisions for the far journey

And gather provisions for the journey—

before it takes you unawares.

آهٍ يا قلب إيش أغفلك

آهٍ يا قلب إيش أغفلك

عن حال عقباك

عن حال عقباك

Ah, O heart, how heedless you are

Ah, O heart, what has made you heedless

of the state of your final end!

كيف تغفل عن العقبى

كيف تغفل عن العقبى

وتركن لدنياك

وتركن لدنياك

How can you neglect the Hereafter

How can you be heedless of the hereafter

and put your trust in this world?

and rely on your worldly life?

فاترك الفاني المرذول

فاترك الفاني المرذول

وأقبل على أخراك

وأقبل على أخراك

Abandon the despised, fleeting world

So forsake what is fleeting and contemptible,

and turn toward your Hereafter.

واعمل الخير تظفر في

واعمل الخير تظفر في

معادك ورجعاك

معادك ورجعاك

Do good, and you shall triumph at

And do good; you will triumph in

your resurrection and return.

واحمد المولى إذا وفقك

واحمد المولى إذا وفقك

للرشد وأهداك

للرشد وأهداك

Praise the Lord when He enables you

And praise the Master when He grants you success

to follow right guidance and guides you.

واتبع سنة الهادي

واتبع سنة الهادي

محمد وبشراك

محمد وبشراك

Follow the Sunna of the Guide,

And follow the way of the Guide,

Muhammad—and glad tidings be yours.
