يا صابراً اصبر وبشر من صبر

يا صابراً اصبر وبشر من صبر

بالنصر والفرج القريب وبالظفر

بالنصر والفرج القريب وبالظفر

O patient one, be patient, and give glad tidings to those who endure

O you who are patient, be patient and receive good news

of victory, imminent relief, and triumph.

Of victory, relief, and imminent triumph

نال الصبور بصبره ما يرتجي

نال الصبور بصبره ما يرتجي

وصفت له الأوقات من بعد الكدر

وصفت له الأوقات من بعد الكدر

The patient one attained through his patience what he hoped for,

The patient person attains through patience what he hopes for

and his days grew clear after their murk.

Time has prescribed for him after hardship

فاصبر على المحن القواصد وانتظر

فاصبر على المحن القواصد وانتظر

فرجا به تداولت دول القدر

فرجا به تداولت دول القدر

So be patient through the trials that assail you, and await

So be patient through ordeals and wait

relief, with which the fortunes of fate have alternated.

For relief which the cycles of fate will bring about

وإذا الحوادث أظلمت وتكدرت

وإذا الحوادث أظلمت وتكدرت

فاسكن وإياك التحرك والحذر

فاسكن وإياك التحرك والحذر

And when events grow dark and murky,

And if calamities darken and worsen

then be still, and beware agitation and apprehension.

Then settle down and refrain from moving and caution

وإن النوائب كالسحائب تنجلي

وإن النوائب كالسحائب تنجلي

في سرعة ووجودها يضحي خبر

في سرعة ووجودها يضحي خبر

And indeed, calamities, like clouds, clear away

For tribulations are like clouds that disperse

swiftly, and their existence becomes a tale.

Quickly, and their existence becomes a fleeting matter

وإذا تطول إقامة من حادث

وإذا تطول إقامة من حادث

كانت مبشرة بطول المنتظر

كانت مبشرة بطول المنتظر

And when an affliction's stay grows long,

And if the stay of an affliction is prolonged

it heralds that the awaited relief will last long.

It brings tidings that the awaited relief is long

فاصبر هداك اللَه صبر الأتقيا

فاصبر هداك اللَه صبر الأتقيا

ء الأبريا الثابتين لدى الغير

ء الأبريا الثابتين لدى الغير

So be patient—may God guide you—with the patience of the God-fearing,

So be patient, may God guide you with the patience of the God-fearing

the blameless, steadfast amid reversals of fortune.

And the steadfast among the innocent faced with others

واعلم بأن الكون مطبوع على التك

واعلم بأن الكون مطبوع على التك

دير والتغيير فامعن للنظر

دير والتغيير فامعن للنظر

And know that the world is stamped with disquiet

And know that the universe is characterized by change

and change; so reflect deeply.

And alteration so reflect deeply

واغنم زمانك راحة وتروحا

واغنم زمانك راحة وتروحا

ودع الهموم فإنها محض الضرر

ودع الهموم فإنها محض الضرر

And make the most of your time in rest and refreshment,

And make use of your time in comfort and cheer

and leave worries behind, for they are sheer harm.

And leave worries for they are pure harm

وادخل ميادين التوكل والرضا

وادخل ميادين التوكل والرضا

واشكر على ما ساء من حال وشر

واشكر على ما ساء من حال وشر

And enter the fields of trust in God and contentment,

And enter the fields of trust and acceptance

and give thanks for every grievous circumstance and misfortune.

And thank for the bad in state and evil

واقتد بتاج الأصفيا علم الهدى

واقتد بتاج الأصفيا علم الهدى

زين الوجود محمد خير البشر

زين الوجود محمد خير البشر

And follow the example of the crown of the pure, the banner of guidance,

And follow the crown of the pious, the guide of faith

the adornment of existence, Muhammad, the best of humankind.
