عن غزال النقا والرقمتين

O breeze of the east wind, is there any news

O morning breeze, is there any news

Of the gazelle of al-Naqa and al-Raqmatayn?

Of the graceful gazelle with the two antelopes

إن قلبي إليها قد صبا

إن قلبي إليها قد صبا

وجرى دمعي من كل عين

وجرى دمعي من كل عين

Indeed, my heart has yearned for her,

For my heart has poured out to her

And my tears flowed from every eye.

And my tears flowed from every eye

ذهب العمر فيها كالهبا

ذهب العمر فيها كالهبا

ضائعاً بين تبريح وبين

ضائعاً بين تبريح وبين

My life has vanished for her like dust,

Life with her passed like a gust of wind

Wasted between anguish and parting.

Lost between parting and being together

قل لها وادن من حول الخبا

قل لها وادن من حول الخبا

إنها ربما قد حان حين

إنها ربما قد حان حين

Tell her, and draw near the tent's surroundings:

Tell her to come near around the meadows

Indeed, perhaps her time has already come.

For now may be the time

علها تغنم ما قد بقي

علها تغنم ما قد بقي

من بقايا الحياة الفانيه

من بقايا الحياة الفانيه

Perhaps she will make the most of what remains

That she makes use of what remains

Of the remnants of this fleeting life,

Of the vanishing life

وتعاملني بأعمال التقى

وتعاملني بأعمال التقى

الذي له سريرة صافيه

الذي له سريرة صافيه

And treat me with the conduct of the pious man,

And treats me with the deeds of the devout

Whose inner disposition is pure.

Whose inner self is pure

لا تعاملني بأعمال الشقي

لا تعاملني بأعمال الشقي

الذي ينطلق للهاويه

الذي ينطلق للهاويه

Do not treat me with the conduct of the wicked man,

Do not treat me with the deeds of the wretched

Who sets off for the abyss.

Who plunges into the abyss

قل تولى وأعرض وأبى

قل تولى وأعرض وأبى

وتجري على شين ومين

وتجري على شين ومين

Say: he turned away, withdrew, and refused,

Say he has turned away and refused

And you go on in disgrace and falsehood.

And flows on disgrace and humiliation

هل ترى يا ظبي النجود

هل ترى يا ظبي النجود

عيشنا بين زمزم والمقام

عيشنا بين زمزم والمقام

Do you think, O gazelle of the uplands,

Do you see, O deer of Najd

Our life between Zamzam and the Maqam,

Our life between Zamzam and the Standing Place

الذي قد خلا عاد يعود

الذي قد خلا عاد يعود

قبل أن يتوفانا الحمام

قبل أن يتوفانا الحمام

Which has passed, will return once more

Which when empty will again fill

Before death takes us?

Before the pigeons take us away

فعسى اللَه ذو العرش الودود

فعسى اللَه ذو العرش الودود

الكريم الرحيم رب الأنام

الكريم الرحيم رب الأنام

So may God, Lord of the Throne, the All-Loving,

May Allah, Lord of the gracious Throne

The Generous, the Merciful, Lord of all creatures,

The Generous and Merciful Lord of mankind

ثم من بعده نأتي قبا

ثم من بعده نأتي قبا

ونزور المصطفى جد الحسين

ونزور المصطفى جد الحسين

Then, after that, we shall come to Quba,

And after Him we will come to the tomb
