1. قَد كَفاني عِلمُ رَبّي

    مِن سُؤالي وَاِختِياري

    My Lord's knowledge has sufficed me,

    in place of my asking and my choosing.

  2. فَدُعائي وَاِبتِهالي

    شاهِدٌ لي بِاِفتِقاري

    So my prayer and my supplication

    bear witness for me to my neediness.

  3. فَلِهَذا السِرُّ أَدعو

    في يَساري وَعِساري

    So for this secret I pray

    in my ease and my hardship.

  4. أَنا عَبدٌ صارَ فَخري

    ضِمنَ فَقري وَاِضطِراري

    I am a servant whose pride now lies

    within my poverty and my dire need.

  5. قَد كَفاني عِلمُ رَبّي

    مِن سُؤالي وَاِختِياري

    My Lord's knowledge has sufficed me,

    in place of my asking and my choosing.

  6. يا إِلَهي وَمَليكي

    أَنتَ تَعلَمُ كَيفَ حالي

    O my God and my King,

    You know what state I am in,

  7. وَبِما قَد حَلَّ قَلبي

    مِن هُمومٍ وَاِشتِغالي

    and what has beset my heart

    of worries and preoccupations.

  8. فَتَدارَكَني بِلُطفٍ

    مِنكَ يا مَولى المَوالي

    So come to my aid with kindness

    from You, O Master of masters.

  9. يا كَريمَ الوَجهِ غِثني

    قَبلَ اَن يَفنى اِصطِباري

    O You of noble countenance, help me

    before my patient endurance runs out.

  10. قَد كَفاني عِلمُ رَبّي

    مِن سُؤالي وَاِختِيارِ

    My Lord's knowledge has sufficed me,

    in place of my asking and choosing.

  11. يا سريعَ الغَوثِ غَوثاً

    مِنكَ يُدرُكُني سَريعا

    O swift in aid, grant aid

    from You that reaches me swiftly,

  12. يَهزِمُ العُسرَ وَيَأتي

    بِالَّذي أَرجو جَميعا

    defeats hardship and comes

    with all that I hope for.

  13. يا قَريباً يا مُجيباً

    يا عَليماً يا سَميعا

    O Near One, O Answerer,

    O All-Knowing, O All-Hearing,

  14. قَد تَحَقَّقَت بِعَجزي

    وَخُضوعي وَاِنكِساري

    I have truly become certain of my helplessness,

    and my submission and my brokenness.

  15. قَد كَفاني عِلمُ رَبّي

    مِن سُؤالي وَاِختِياري

    My Lord's knowledge has sufficed me,

    in place of my asking and my choosing.

  16. لَم أَزَل بِالبابِ واقِفٌ

    فَأَدِم رَبّي وُقوفي

    I have never ceased standing at the door;

    so, my Lord, sustain my standing.

  17. وَبِوادي الفَضلِ عاكِفٌ

    فَأَدِم رَبّي عُكوفي

    And I abide in the valley of grace;

    so, my Lord, sustain my abiding.

  18. وَلِحُسنِ الظَنِّ لازِمٌ

    وَهوَ خِلّي وَحَليفي

    And I hold fast to good expectation;

    it is my close friend and my ally,

  19. وَأَنيسي وَجَليسي

    طولَ لَيلي وَنَهاري

    and my comforting friend and companion,

    throughout my night and my day.

  20. قَد كَفاني عِلمُ رَبّي

    مِن سُؤالي وَاِختِباري

    My Lord's knowledge has sufficed me,

    in place of my asking and my testing.

  21. حاجَةً في النَفسِ رَبّي

    فَاِقضِها يا خَيرَ قاضي

    A need lies within my soul, my Lord;

    so fulfill it, O best of judges,

  22. وَأَرِح سِرّي وَقَلبي

    مِن لَظاها وَالشَواظِ

    and give rest to my innermost self and my heart

    from its blaze and the searing flame,

  23. في سُرورٍ وَحُبورِ

    وَإِذا ما كُنتَ راضي

    in joy and gladness.

    And when You are pleased,

  24. فَالهَنا وَالبَسطُ حالي

    وَشِعاري وَدِثاري

    then bliss and ease are my state,

    and my inner garment and my outer cloak.

  25. قَد كَفاني عِلمُ رَبّي

    مِن سُؤالي وَاِختِياري

    My Lord's knowledge has sufficed me,

    in place of my asking and my choosing.
