بحر أقدار المهين ذي العلا

بحر أقدار المهين ذي العلا

Let it flow beneath God's watchful eye, in

Let it flow with God's eye in

the sea of the decrees of the One who humbles, the Exalted.

The sea of the despicable ruler's destinies

وتأدب ثم سلم للإله

وتأدب ثم سلم للإله

في الذي يقضيه واحذر لو ولا

في الذي يقضيه واحذر لو ولا

And show reverence, then submit to God

And be polite, then submit to God

in what He ordains; beware of 'if only' and 'no.'

In what He decrees, and beware unless

وانتظر لطفاً خفياً مردفاً

وانتظر لطفاً خفياً مردفاً

بالفرج واليسر من هذا البلا

بالفرج واليسر من هذا البلا

And await a hidden kindness, followed

And wait for hidden and consecutive grace

by relief and ease from this affliction.

With relief and ease from this affliction

وتدبر في الذي نص لنا

وتدبر في الذي نص لنا

في الضحى والشرح تحظى بالولا

في الضحى والشرح تحظى بالولا

And reflect on what He expressly declared for us

And ponder what He prescribed for us

in al-Duha and al-Sharh; you will gain loving nearness.

In the morning and the explanation, you will enjoy devotion

وتشفع برسول اللَه في

وتشفع برسول اللَه في

كل خطب هائل خير الملا

كل خطب هائل خير الملا

And seek intercession through God's Messenger in

And intercede with the Messenger of God in

every dreadful ordeal—he, the best of humankind,

Every tremendous matter, the best of creations

أحمد المحمود خير الأنبيا

أحمد المحمود خير الأنبيا

ء الذي أسرى به الرب إلى

ء الذي أسرى به الرب إلى

Ahmad, the praised one, the best of the prophets,

Ahmad the Most Praiseworthy, the best of prophets

whom the Lord took by night to

Whom the Lord ascended with him to

حضرة القدس وسدرة منتهى

حضرة القدس وسدرة منتهى

جنة المأوى وشأن قد علا

جنة المأوى وشأن قد علا

the Holy Presence and the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary,

The presence of holiness and the Lote Tree of the boundary

the Garden of Refuge, and an exalted rank.

Of Heaven, the refuge, and the matter has transcended

يا رسول اللَه غنا ضعفا

يا رسول اللَه غنا ضعفا

ومساكين وقد خفنا القلى

ومساكين وقد خفنا القلى

O Messenger of God, [we are] weak

O Messenger of God, we complained of weakness

and destitute, and we have feared rejection

And poverty, and hearts have been distressed from

لذنوب وعيوب كثرت

لذنوب وعيوب كثرت

أورثا كرباً وغماً أذهلا

أورثا كرباً وغماً أذهلا

because of sins and faults that have multiplied;

Sins and faults that increased

both have brought anguish and sorrow that stunned us.

Causing distress and confusion that bewildered

كلنا نستغفر اللَه لما

كلنا نستغفر اللَه لما

قد عملناه ملاء أو خلا

قد عملناه ملاء أو خلا

All of us seek God's forgiveness for what

All of us ask God for forgiveness for what

we have done in company or alone.

We have done, good or bad

ثم جئناك لتستغفر لنا

ثم جئناك لتستغفر لنا

ربك الرحمن يمحو الزللا

ربك الرحمن يمحو الزللا

Then we came to you, that you might seek forgiveness for us

Then we came to you to ask forgiveness for us

from your Lord, the All-Merciful, who erases missteps

From your Lord the Merciful, He erases lapses

ويعاملنا بما هو أهله

ويعاملنا بما هو أهله

من جميلٍ طال ما قد فعلا

من جميلٍ طال ما قد فعلا

and treats us as befits Him,

And treats us with what suits Him

with the kindness He has so often shown.

Of good, long has He done

فله الفضل علينا دائماً

فله الفضل علينا دائماً

وله المن وحمد قد تلا

وله المن وحمد قد تلا

So His is the bounty upon us, always,

For Him is virtue over us always

and His are gracious favor and the praise that follows.

And for Him is bounty and praise has chanted

وصلاة اللَه تغشى المصطفى

وصلاة اللَه تغشى المصطفى

الذي بالحق حقاً أرسلا

الذي بالحق حقاً أرسلا

And may God's blessing envelop the Chosen One,

And the prayers of God cover the Chosen

who was truly sent with the truth,

Who truly was sent with the truth

وعلى الآله الكرام الشرفا

وعلى الآله الكرام الشرفا

وعلى الصحب الهداة الفضلا

وعلى الصحب الهداة الفضلا

and rest upon his noble, honorable family,

And upon his honorable family, and honor

and upon the guiding, virtuous Companions.

And upon the guided companions, virtues
