Sol 6.1

  1. ذكر العهد والربى والمنازل

    فغدا دمعه على الخد سائل

    He recalled the old days, the hills, and the dwellings,

    So his tears began streaming down his cheek.

  2. وذكت من فؤاد نار وجد

    واشتياق ولوعة وبلابل

    And from his heart blazed a fire of passion,

    And yearning, anguish, and troubled cares.

  3. لا تلمه على الذي كان منه

    إنه لا يصبح سمعاً لعاذل

    Do not blame him for what he has done;

    For he lends no ear to any reproacher.

  4. ملك الحب قلبه فتراه

    لا يزال ولهان حيران قايل

    Love has possessed his heart, so you see him

    Ever love-stricken, bewildered, saying:

  5. يا زمان الوصل إن عدت عدنا

    واجتمعنا في الحي والحمى آهل

    O time of union, if you return, we shall return,

    And meet in the encampment, its precincts peopled,

  6. والغواني الحسان يرتعن فيه

    ناعمات بين الحمى والمناهل

    And the beautiful maidens frolic there,

    At ease between the precincts and the watering places,

  7. والأحبة والمجتبين والسا

    دات من فاضل وابن فاضل

    And the loved ones, the chosen ones, and the

    Masters—worthy men and sons of worthy men;

  8. مثل نجل العفيف شيخ كريم

    من كريم ما أن له من مماثل

    Like the son of al-Afif, a noble shaykh,

    Descended from a noble man, with none to equal him;

  9. الحبيب القريب حمسا ومعنى

    الشريف المنيف زين الشمائل

    The beloved, close in body and in spirit,

    The noble, exalted one, beautiful in character;

  10. عيدروس الزمان فرد ال

    عصر نور المكان صدر المحافل

    Aydarus of the time, the peerless one of the

    Age, the light of the place, foremost in assemblies;

  11. تحر علم وطور حلم منيف

    وملاذ للضعفا والأرامل

    A sea of knowledge and a lofty mountain of forbearance,

    And a refuge for the weak and the widows;

  12. وجواد سمح ذكي وفي

    أريحي اللَه داع وعامل

    And generous, openhanded, intelligent, faithful,

    Magnanimous, a caller to God and a man of action.

  13. كان فينا حينا وكنا جميعاً

    في سرور وغبطة وفواضل

    He was among us for a time, and we were all

    In joy, happiness, and bounties.

  14. فتناءت به المنازل عنا

    واجتماع الأرواح باق وحاصل

    Then the dwellings took him far away from us,

    Yet the union of souls endures and remains real.

  15. إن قضى اللَه ربنا باجتماع

    فهو أهل الجميل والكل آمل

    If God, our Lord, decrees a reunion,

    For graciousness befits Him, and all are hopeful,

  16. عند بيت الإله رب البرايا

    وضريح قد ضم ختم الرسائل

    At the House of God, Lord of creation,

    And at the tomb that holds the seal of the messages,

  17. أو بأوطاننا وحيث تشأنا

    وأقامت أسلافنا والأوائل

    Or in our homelands, where we grew up

    And our forebears and those of old dwelt,

  18. فهو المرتجى تعالى علاه

    والمجيب لكل داع وسائل

    For He is the One we hope in—exalted is His majesty—

    And the One who answers every caller and supplicant.

  19. وإذا الإحتماع لم يقض حكماً

    قبل حين الوفاة في حال عاجل

    And if reunion is not ordained by decree

    Before death's hour, in this present life,

  20. فعسى في جوار الكريم جنان

    قد أعدت للمتقين الأفاضل

    Then may it be near the Generous One, in gardens

    Already prepared for the God-fearing and virtuous.

  21. وصلاة الإله تترى وتهدي

    لنبي بالحق قاض وعادل

    And may God's blessings flow in succession and be bestowed

    Upon a prophet who judges by truth and is just:

  22. أحمد المصطفى شفيع مطاع

    سيد المرسلين خير الوسائل

    Ahmad, the Chosen One, the heeded intercessor,

    Master of the messengers, the best means of approach.

  23. وسلام عليه في كل حين

    وأوان وبكرة وأصائل

    And peace be upon him at every moment

    And time, in the early morning and late afternoons,

  24. وعلى آله الكرام وصحب

    وعلى التابعين أهل الفضائل

    And upon his noble family and companions,

    And upon the followers, people of virtue.
