وبيت عزّك لو فكّرت منهوكُ
Your life's veil, O deluded one, is torn.
The veil of your age, O vain one, is worn
And the house of your glory, were you to reflect, is worn down.
And the house of your glory, if you thought of it, is ruined

لا بدّ يصبح يوما وهو متروك
Enough for you is the wealth your two hands have gathered;
You have done enough harm with your hands

A day will certainly come when it is abandoned

دماً يُخضّبُ منه النحوُ مسفوكُ
How admirable is one who weeps in remorse over his lapses,
Crying to Allah regretting his mistakes
Shed blood, with which the side is stained.
Blood that dyes grammar spilled

There is no doubt that the inevitable appointed end will overtake him.
No doubt the predetermined death will reach him
And one who distorts thought concerning the signs is himself deluded.
And the mind is confused by the signs, intertwined

He loathes dwelling in an abode that does not endure;
Cooking pride in an impermanent abode
In it, master and slave are equal in death.
In which the owner and the slave perished equally
