بِنَفْسِيَ مَنْ أَوْمَأَتْ مُقْلَتَاها

بِنَفْسِيَ مَنْ أَوْمَأَتْ مُقْلَتَاها

بِمَا لِي مِنَ الحُب فِي نَفْسِها

بِمَا لِي مِنَ الحُب فِي نَفْسِها

My life for her whose two eyes have hinted

With my soul, she inclined her eyelids

at the love she holds for me within her soul.

With the love I have for her in my soul

يُعينُ عَلى وَصْلِها أَنَّنِي

يُعينُ عَلى وَصْلِها أَنَّنِي

أعِنُّ لَها فِي حِلَى نَفْسِها

أعِنُّ لَها فِي حِلَى نَفْسِها

What helps me attain union with her is that I

It helps me reach her, that I

appear to her among her own adornments.

Help adorn her soul’s beauty

فَإِنْ مِلْتُ لَثْماً إِلَى كَفِّها

فَإِنْ مِلْتُ لَثْماً إِلَى كَفِّها

جَزَتْنِيَ حَمْلاً عَلَى رَأْسِها

جَزَتْنِيَ حَمْلاً عَلَى رَأْسِها

And if I bend toward her palm to kiss it,

If I sought to kiss her palm

she rewards me by carrying me upon her head.

She’d reward me by carrying me on her head
