Is it the smile of Eid al-Adha and the dawn of Eid al-Fitr,
I smile at dawn and at the start of Eid
or the radiant dynasty, bright with gladness?
Mother of the glorious state and radiance of mankind

Nights and days, alike in delight—
Nights and days alike in their splendor
they are musk and camphor in color and fragrance,
The musk and camphor in color and diffusion

perfumed in scent, springlike in adornment,
My scent is springtime, my sweets are springtime's
like a shimmering virgin emerging from a curtained chamber.
Like the warbling of a pure maiden emerging from her boudoir

Through them Time clothed itself in beauties and was robed,
With her the ages donned beauty and were adorned
and from them the faces of sun and full moon drew their light.
And from her the page of sun and moon drew radiance

Such bounty—as a rain cloud pours down showers,
So welcome as the showers of Muzna have descended
and such nearness—as flower-sheaths open to reveal blossoms.
And welcome as the veil splits from the blossom

Behold, the cub of valor has visited his lion,
Behold the cub of valor visited its lair
and the people found security in his very roar.
So the people's resolve against it weakened into wailing

And a torrent of bounty—its flood reached the sea,
The torrent of dew poured forth its abundance
as torrents have never ceased to empty into the sea.
And the torrents never ceased to pour into the sea

He shone forth a crescent, auspicious stars encircling him,
It shone crescent-like and the Saudis magnify it
in the halo of kingship's full moon, like the bright stars.
With the aura of the full moon in semblance of blossom

And, a height with proudly lifted nose, he set his saddle down
And it alighted loftily, the ride of its stately nose
upon a steadfast mountain of pride, not rock.
Upon the mountain firm in pride, not in rock

And it came as its breeze revived the gardens
at the appointed time, great in pavilion and rank.
In a capacious canopy and capacious pot

And the clouds sent down their rains in service
to him, wrapping the rising dust in raindrops.
To it, surrounding the brilliant armor with rainfall

because of the shade of victory's banners above him.
Could not touch it under the shade of the standards of victory

at the exalted court, in desert and town.
To the noble court in desert and in town

With it, a throne and pulpit became adorned
as yellow reed-pens and brown spears boast.
Like the saddlebags of the blond foal and the sorrel camel

The meeting of dew and rose in the tender time

Pure Zakariyya in his blessed origins
and his earliest shoots spoke plainly of his goodness.

From his forefathers he was given judgment and intelligence
And he was granted wisdom and insight from his forefathers
as a boy, so he was a mature man in a novice's cloak.
As a child, so he became the elder in the prime of youth

And many a little one in his years has aged
august in grave affairs, too great for arrogance.
Exalted to the exalted, great beyond great

the son bears in those two names the nobility of his stock.
For the grandson from marking them both with nobility

A magnanimous lord: praise dwindles before his majesty,
Aspirations whose praise transcends telling it
even were Sirius fashioned for him instead of poetry.
Even were the verses composed for it instead of prose

Then say, in the Syrian mountains and the green sea

and that house rightly deserves the foremost rank.
And for that House the rank of the chest is its right

through reports that console Time, and through firsthand knowledge.
So from news that consoles time, and from great news

Thus it poured on the celestial spheres the garments of pride

An equitable nation who were most just when they lifted
from the people the burden that weighed upon their necks.
From the people what had burdened necks with shackles
