وحبَّبَand endeared يومَthe day of السَّبتِSaturday عنديَto me أننيthat I
وحبَّبَ يومَ السَّبتِ عنديَ أنني
يُنادِمُنيkeeps me company over wine فيهon that day الذيthe one whom أناI أحببتُI loved
يُنادِمُني فيه الذي أنا أحببتُ
And what endeared Saturday to me is that
And love made sweet to me the Sabbath day
the one I loved keeps me company over wine that day.
When he, whom I have loved, comes to converse.
ومنand among أعجبِthe strangest الأشياءِthings أنيَthat I مسلمٌa Muslim
ومن أعجبِ الأشياءِ أنيَ مسلمٌ
تقيٌّpious ولكنand yet خيرُthe best of أياميَmy days السبتSaturday
تقيٌّ ولكن خيرُ أياميَ السبت
And among the strangest things is that I am a Muslim,
Strange that I am Muslim true, devout and wise,
pious—yet the best of my days is Saturday.
Yet the Sabbath is the best day in my eyes.
