شمائله خُلِقْنَ من الشمولِ

شمائله خُلِقْنَ من الشمولِ

And one with honeyed, dusky lips and sweet front teeth,

Whose graces were fashioned from wine,

أراق دمي بألحاظٍ مراضٍ

أراق دمي بألحاظٍ مراضٍ

يفلّ بها شبا بيضِ النصول

Shed my blood with languid glances,

With which he blunts the edges of gleaming blades.

إذا ما قيل من بك قلتُ أودتْ

بسفك دمي جفون أبي الجميل

بسفك دمي جفون أبي الجميل

Whenever asked, 'Who afflicts you?' I say, 'I have been slain
