And a bewitching, drowsy-eyed beauty whose coquetry kills—
The killing glance and slender waist
Her ample hips tug against her waist.
Swaying, hugged by wrapping clothes.

ومسكُ الليل تُهديه الرياح
She came toward me by night when the watchers slept,
She crept while the necks slept towards me
And the winds brought the night's musk as a gift.
And the night donned musk blown by the wind.

The trinkets sang of her rising moon
In a whisper; then the sash answered it.
Answered by the rustling clothes.

She dreads the light from the pillar of dawn,
She fears the pillar of morning light
For fear that scandal might befall us.
Lest exposure befell us at dawn.

And never before her, while the night was dark, had I seen
Never before, as night darkened,
A dawn that spent the night in terror of dawn.
Had morning so frightened morning.
