A friend invited you, while the late afternoon seemed
A friend called you, so noble it seemed
an ailing man living out his last moments of life,
As if he were ill, living his final days

To a shore flowing as if you were its water
in purity of heart or sweetness of character;
The purity of conscience or sweetness of manners

And the moment came for me to glance toward the gardens;
My thoughts have turned to the meadows
because of that glance, I withheld my cup a moment from the cupbearer.
I lingered, barely sipping my wine

Looking across the gillyflowers' tops, I remembered you; they bent,

So welcome blossoms from this one, as though they were,
Pluck from it flowers as if
now wet with droplets, the eye sockets of lovers.
Dew tinged lovers' eyelids
