لمّا تستّر إذ رآني مقبِلاً

لمّا تستّر إذ رآني مقبِلاً

عنّي زعيماً أنَّهُ لا يُؤنِسُ

عنّي زعيماً أنَّهُ لا يُؤنِسُ

When, seeing me approach, he hid himself

from me, claiming he offered no companionship,

نادَيتهُ لا تُخفِ شخصَكَ إنّما

نادَيتهُ لا تُخفِ شخصَكَ إنّما

سمّيتَ إنساناً لأنكَ مؤنِسُ

سمّيتَ إنساناً لأنكَ مؤنِسُ

I called to him: “Do not hide yourself; it is only

because you offer companionship that you were called ‘human.’”
