لَو شِئت مِما نِلت كُل عُلا

لَو شِئت مِما نِلت كُل عُلا

وَهتَكت كُل كَثيفَة السجفِ

وَهتَكت كُل كَثيفَة السجفِ

Had you wished, having attained every height,

Had you desired from what you gained every elevation

and torn through every thick veil,

And penetrated every dense curtain

لرمَحت فينا بِالسماكِ ضُحىً

لرمَحت فينا بِالسماكِ ضُحىً

وأبَحتَ لبدكَ صَهوة الرّدفِ

وأبَحتَ لبدكَ صَهوة الرّدفِ

you would have thrust among us with al-Simak at midmorning,

You would have cast onto us in the morn a spear

and granted your saddlecloth the back of al-Ridf.

And opened for your chest the field of pierce
