وكأَنَّنيand as though I لمّاwhen انْحَطَطْتُI descended بهwith it
وكأَنَّني لمّا انْحَطَطْتُ به
أَرْميI hurl at الفَلاةthe wilderness بكَوْكَبwith a star طَلْقِunrestrained
أَرْمي الفَلاة بكَوْكَب طَلْقِ
And it was as though, when I bore down astride him,
And it was as though, when I swept down with it,
I shot an unfettered star across the wasteland;
I were hurling a star set loose across the wilderness;
وكأَنَّنيand as though I لمّاwhen طَلَبْتُI pursued بهwith it
وكأَنَّني لمّا طَلَبْتُ به
وَحْشwild beasts الفَلاةِof the wilderness علىon مَطاthe back of بَرْقِlightning
وَحْش الفَلاةِ على مَطا بَرْقِ
and as though, when astride him I pursued
And it was as though, when I pursued with it
the wasteland’s wild game, I rode upon lightning’s back.
the wilderness's wild beasts, I were on lightning's back.
