حاز المكارم يبلغُ المأمول

حاز المكارم يبلغُ المأمول

Through praises of the Chosen One, Ahmad, the best of those who

have attained noble virtues, one's hopes are fulfilled.

فمتى أزور معالما ومشاهداً

فمتى أزور معالما ومشاهداً

يشفى بها مما أكن غليل

يشفى بها مما أكن غليل

So when shall I visit landmarks and sacred sites

where the burning thirst I conceal may be quenched?

يا حادي الأظعان نحو محمد

يا حادي الأظعان نحو محمد

هل لي إلى تلك الديار سبيل

هل لي إلى تلك الديار سبيل

O camel-driver leading the caravans toward Muhammad,

is there a way for me to those abodes?

إن جئت ساحات الحمى أبلغهم

إن جئت ساحات الحمى أبلغهم

أن المتيم بالبعاد عليلُ

أن المتيم بالبعاد عليلُ

If you reach the sanctuary's courtyards, tell them

that the love-stricken one is ailing from separation.

إن لاح يرق أو ترنّم طائر

إن لاح يرق أو ترنّم طائر

يهتز شوقاً نحوهم فيميل

يهتز شوقاً نحوهم فيميل

If [lightning] flashes or a bird sings,

he quivers with longing for them and sways.

فمتى يقرّب من براه شوقُه

فمتى يقرّب من براه شوقُه

ومتى يتاح إلي الحبيب وصولُ

ومتى يتاح إلي الحبيب وصولُ

So when will he whom his longing has wasted be brought near?

And when will it be possible to reach the beloved?

إن بلّغتني اللحبيب ركائبي

إن بلّغتني اللحبيب ركائبي

أو جدّ بي ود لهما وزميل

أو جدّ بي ود لهما وزميل

If my riding-camels bring me to the beloved,

or affection for them both and a companion hasten me onward,

قبلتُ أخفاقَ المطايا شاكراً

قبلتُ أخفاقَ المطايا شاكراً

ويقل في شكرى لها التقبيل

ويقل في شكرى لها التقبيل

I would kiss the mounts' [hooves] in gratitude,

yet kisses would fall short of the thanks I owe them.
