عِندَنا سَيِّدي نَديمٌ وَرَيحا

عِندَنا سَيِّدي نَديمٌ وَرَيحا

نٌ وَكَأسٌ وَقينَةٌ وَحَبيبُ

نٌ وَكَأسٌ وَقينَةٌ وَحَبيبُ

With us, my lord, are a drinking companion and basil,

My lord, we have a boon companion and a zephyr,

a cup, a singing girl, and a beloved;

A cup, a lute, a loved one,

وَمُغَنٍّ يَقولُ ما تَعجِزُ الأَل

وَمُغَنٍّ يَقولُ ما تَعجِزُ الأَل

فاظُ عَنهُ حُلوُ الحَديثِ أَديبُ

فاظُ عَنهُ حُلوُ الحَديثِ أَديبُ

and a singer who sings what words cannot

And a singer reciting what words cannot grasp -

express—sweet of speech and cultured.

Sweet of conversation, refined in speech.
