أَهلاًwelcome وَسَهلاًand a warm welcome بِالنايِto the reed flute وَالعودِand the oud
أَهلاً وَسَهلاً بِالنايِ وَالعودِ
وَكَأسِand the cup of ساقٍa cupbearer كَالغُصنِlike a branch مَقدودِshapely
وَكَأسِ ساقٍ كَالغُصنِ مَقدودِ
Welcome to the reed flute and the oud,
And to the cup of a cupbearer, slender as a branch.
قَدِindeed اِنقَضَتhas ended دَولَةُthe reign of الصِيامِfasting وَقَدand already
قَدِ اِنقَضَت دَولَةُ الصِيامِ وَقَد
بَشَّرَhas brought glad tidings سُقمُthe sickliness of الهِلالِthe crescent moon بِالعيدِof Eid
بَشَّرَ سُقمُ الهِلالِ بِالعيدِ
The reign of fasting has ended, and already
The crescent’s sickliness has brought glad tidings of Eid.
