To blame you, O my world, is to praise myself.

You have diminished my provisions and prolonged my confinement.

Tomorrow holds my hopes, and my yesterday holds my despair.

And today is made of funerals and a wedding.

I am never free of loneliness, even in company.

Blessed are we beneath the dust of the grave:

No sorrow is known when evening comes.
