The visitors to my sickbed have tired of my illness.

And my tears have been betrayed by their companion in weeping.

And my night has lost its morrow.

Blessed is my eye if it finds it.

    May Time's hand be shackled!

A slayer of whomever it bears.

He perishes, yet his eternity remains.

    And Death's lion is ferocious.

O you whose enviers have tormented me,

It makes him stand and makes him sit.

For in his throat there is

The taste of a choking obstruction he keeps turning over.

I lay awake through a night I would have slept through.

The envious man's lot is his anguish.

They said, 'His number is small.'

    Whoever cheats has few offspring.
