O you whose heart is free from the consuming passion in my liver,
O you whose heart is untouched by my liver’s burning anguish,
while my prolonged yearning stores sickness up within me.
And my prolonged yearning incites sickness against me.

Love has emboldened you against me—so what do you think,
My love has emboldened you—so what do you think,

While embers infect charcoal with their color?
